Cow Vintage

Finding good pieces in thrift stores always lifts up our moo-d!

The trend of thrifting has been going on strong and is sustainable for the environment and for one’s budget.

It is always satisfying to find clothes that you want/need and actually fit you for a fraction of the retail price.

However, if you have never thrifted before and are unsure on where to start, then we got you covered.

Cow Vintage is located in Covent Garden, just beside the Seven Dials Market and they offer a sustainable alternative to fast fashion, a good way to spice up your closet.

Cow is an independent vintage clothing and accessory store that ethically sources their goods from around the world!

They offer iconic brands that range from Carhartt to Harley Davidson to expensive ones like Burberry.

Cow has several stores in the UK, such as Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester, and many more.

Yet, if it isn’t in your city, that’s no worry because they also sell their items online so that you can still find some rare vintage clothing or their up-cycled pieces to be delivered.

When you first step into the store, you will notice that it has “clouds” hanging from the ceilings.

These clouds are actually made out of 90% recycled materials, which is definitely a good way to stay authentic to their ethics and a creative way to present the store.

The store is also really neat and tidy. Unlike other stores, the racks aren’t overstuffed with clothing, which could be off-putting and overwhelming for some people.

From what we notice, the store is very organised as well because the affordable, but still iconic, brands are placed at the front, while the back has the luxury brands.

On top of that, the top floor (store entrance) is the women section and the floor below is for men.

We browsed the top floor first but found nothing that appeals to us so we decided to browse the men’s section to find some oversized clothing.

Downstairs had a different vibe from the top floor; the top felt very colourful and fun, downstairs gave a bit of a mid-western vibe with all the wooden decorations.

We immediately started rummaging through the racks because we had specific pieces we had in mind and didn’t mind what brand it was as long as it looks good.

When we found a few that would suit our styles, we tried them out in the fitting rooms to see if they fit.

Finally, we found the items we were satisfied with and decided to pay for them.

The prices were the usual prices that one would find in London thrift stores with affordable brands ranging from roughly around £10-£30+.

Fortunately, Cow offers a 10% student discount as well, a rare thing for thrift stores.

The whole experience was very comfortable, and it definitely felt less daunting than other thrift/vintage stores. Maybe because the staff seemed really friendly, and the atmosphere was calming and not too overcrowded with clothes.

If you’re interested in refreshing your closet sustainably, then we recommend Cow Vintage to start with.
