MJ the Musical first premiered in 2021 in New York, USA, and recently arrived in London’s West End.

The musical focuses on Michael Jackson’s second world tour ‘Dangerous World Tour‘ in 1992.

The show shows how the world tour is coordinated by showing backup dancers practicing their routine and Michael Jackson and his manager reviewing the set list and making changes. 

Moreover, it displays the passion and handwork Michael Jackson put into his tour as he tried to go above and beyond for his fans, as well as the idea of doing better than his first solo tour,’ Bad’, in 1987. 

Yet, the show explains the reasons for Jackson’s passion and perfectionism. Many of the scenes switch from the Past to the Present by showcasing Michael Jackson‘s early life with his parents pressuring him and his brothers into daily practices, the formation and fame of The Jackson 5.

From this group, they brought on hit songs to sing along,  such as ’I Want You Back’.

As a Broadway fan, I consider this musical one of the best I have ever seen.

From witnessing three MJs of different ages perform, through hearing a voice of his by singing along to MJ’s hit songs, ’Billie Jean,’’ Thriller,’’ Smooth Criminal’ and many more.

They did a fantastic job with the stages when switching scenes, making it seamless but clear to follow along. MJ musical is a must-see when you are in town!
