Trullo

True Love at Trullo

Nothing says romance like a dimly-lit Italian fine dining restaurant!

Trullo is a date night staple in North London, offering a small and intentionally-crafted menu of seasonal ingredients, hand-made pasta and grilled fish and meat.

The restaurant is located on St Paul’s Road, with the closest tube station being the Highbury & Islington station. It’s a lovely part of London, with cute independent stores and greenery surrounding the residential area.

The interior has a timeless and quaint feel to it, with rustic dark wooden floorboards, sea-green lamps and tiles, and a tiny candle illuminating each white cloth table.

The small tables and chairs created an intimate atmosphere. The close quarters imbued the space with a friendly buzz of chatter, as no music was playing.

The menu changes daily (sometimes twice a day!), so every night feels special and exclusive to the guests of the night.

We started out our meal with sourdough and olive oil, which went beautifully with a bottle of white wine that was recommended to us by the attentive and knowledgeable staff.

For our main course, we shared few pasta dishes, including pappardelle with beef shin ragu, a seafood tagliarini, and a soft and creamy plate of tomato ravioli.

Everything had their own distinct role to play in the meal and went together well, which was a testament to the carefully crafted menu.

To test out their grilled meat offerings, we sampled a plate of ribs. They were smoky and soft, melting off the bone like water.

It was definitely the star of the show, with it disappearing the fastest out of all the dishes.

Of course, we had to go with the tiramisu to end the meal. It was excellent and creamy, and we ordered a second round!

Looking around the restaurant, we saw many couples having a little Lady and the Tramp moment.

If you’re looking to impress, Trullo is definitely the way to go!
